We actually got started on our renovations and have made a mark on our home.
My office, where you can see me sitting above, with a cup of tea in my favourite mug, is up and running and has even been shot for a magazine.
Our kitchen is nearly finished, apart from the flooring, so despite our efforts still looks hideous. We feel that the flooring is a big commitment, so we are taking our time and overthinking, then hesitating, then overthinking further and then hesitating again.
So be patient, we will get there.
The challenges of renovating are also reflected in the challenges in our work I have realised. My work as a journalist is visibly shifting online, I am really enjoying Instagram and writing this journal on Substack, but wildly overthinking and hesitating on both, of course.
I had committed to a regular newsletter on here, sharing what I am reading, watching, enjoying and working on. I really lapsed at the end of the year though, because I felt the books I was reading were not very good.
Well, I have realised that I can still share my thoughts, even if they are negative, quite useful actually in our search for a good read. And I have watched some great drama and failed to share that with you because I was so worried that the books I was reading were not good and I have done some interviews with some really interesting people and not shared on here.
Here I am interviewing the lovely Helen Sellwood, from @baliol.house on Instagram live - so fun…
Oh dear!
Well, that is all going to be in the past now, alongside quite a lot of important documents that I have binned in an attempt to ‘clear up’ my laptop to avoid paying more for my icloud storage.
The process depicted above does not work if you have emptied your recycling bin.
Yep, and errr, yes, I did ‘empty my recycling bin’…
Yep – no ‘overthinking’ or ‘hesitating’ while I was doing that!!
So, I have really learnt a valuable lesson at the end of 2024: look after my laptop. I will be backing up my documents, and systematically deleting the huge files of ‘fun’ videos that I take on shoots and at events in our village hall for Instagram stories, rather than the other way round.
Onwards and upwards, looking forward to sharing more interiors and lifestyle news in 2025 very much!
